I have just returned from a holiday with my husband and some friends in Punta Cana.

We stayed (again!) at the Vista Sol Punta Cana Beach Resort & Spa! 

This is a stunning all-inclusive hotel which was the perfect spot for our romantic getaway.

It is located in Playa Bávaro, chosen by UNESCO as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!

I am a huge fan of the Dominican Republic. I have been to the island 10 times and counting!

The journey 

Getting to the Vista Sol was easy - it’s just a 20 minute shuttle ride from Punta Cana International Airport. 

We booked our airport shuttle transfer via Staff Travel Voyage to take advantage of our educational discount. The cost for a round trip private transfer was $68 for 4 people.

The hotel is located on the east coast of the country, on the shore of the famous “Playa Bávaro”.

I've almost lost count of the number of times I have been here!

As you step into the white sandy beaches you can instantly understand why it was given the honor. Wow!

Arriving at the hotel

Check-in was fast and efficient and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to the VIP section of the hotel to a Junior Suite - it was stunning!

Our room

As we entered the room we found a free bottle of rum - what a welcome!

The suite was 40 square meters and totally oceanfront. 

One of the key features of the modern suite was the large wooden balcony, which was an ideal spot to enjoy a drink as we overlooked the gorgeous turquoise waters.

The room was air-conditioned, and had a television, bathrobes and a mini bar stocked with soda water and beers.

The Beach!

The beach at the Vista Sol Resort is unbelievably beautiful.

 Built on the white sands of Bávaro Beach, Vista Sol is in a region that is a true heaven for beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts. 

The white sand is soft and cool on your feet, and there are plenty of loungers to stretch out.

There are also a couple of beach bars where you can enjoy a tropical cocktail.

There is an area of private beach which is special for customers staying at the Junior Suites. This section had its own full bar. 

Pools and water sports

The resort has 3 swimming pools. One of them has a swim-up bar and was bustling with activities such as aquaerobics classes which were a lot of fun! 

The other 2 refreshing swimming pools were great for chilling and enjoying a cocktail whilst soaking up the caribbean sun. Bliss!

The resort also has an onsite water sports center offering free non-motorized sport equipment like kayaks and snorkeling gear.

We decided to do a snorkelling trip one afternoon and it was absolutely amazing! 

We are able to see gorgeous coral reefs and colourful fish not far from the resort.  If you are not certified and wondered what it is like to scuba dive, you can join one of free lessons at the resort’s pool.

Spa

The resort has a beautiful spa - the perfect spot to relax and unwind. We got an hour’s free hydrotherapy treatment included in our booking. It was a wonderful treat!

We enjoyed the water steam and sauna in a beautifully tranquil setting. The spa also offers massages, facials body treatments, and a nail spa. 

Fun for everyone

We thoroughly enjoyed the resort as a couple, but Vista Sol is also suitable for families and groups. There is something for everyone! 

The kids club looked like a lot of fun, offering daily activities for the little ones so mum and dad could enjoy a drink or a spa treatment. Adults will find plenty to do as well.

On the beach, there is an entertainment team organizeing various sports activities throughout the day. Beach volley was one of the most popular ones!

At Vista Sol Punta Cana you don't have to look for action, it is all around you!

We had a try at dancing bachata - it was a fun class and a great way to burn off a few calories in time for another cocktail. Cheers!

Other activities include a tennis club, mini-golf, gym, and table tennis. When nighttime falls, there is still plenty to do.

The resort has a theatre where you can enjoy professional dance shows, circus performances and more.

At 22.30 hours the Disco opens its doors, ideal for those wanting to experience Dominican’s vibrant nightlife.

Dining 

At Vista Sol, there are 6 restaurants, 1 sports bar and 7 bars in the resort. Plenty of choice!

On our first night we had dinner at Gourmet restaurant, which serves delicious international cuisine in a romantic and elegant setting.

I had the Ribeye which I can highly recommend! 

Vista Sol also has an italian and a Mexican restaurant, or if you prefer buffet style dining, you can visit the Main Restaurant which changes its theme every night.

There is also a beach snack bar that offers burgers, fries, hot dogs and other great snacks as well as beer on tap, sodas and water. 

On the second night we ate at The Teppanyaki Asian and Sushi bar.  

Our meal was cooked in front of us on a hibachi grill - a memorable show! 

There is also the option of eating made to order sushi. What a treat!

The location

The resort is gorgeous and there is a lot to do onsite, but if you want to venture out of the resort there is also plenty to do in the area.

Vista Sol is 5 minutes away from the Palma Real Mall, and the 18 holes Cocotal Golf & Country Club.

The small village of El Cortecito is next to the hotel, it offers a wide range of shops.

Vista Sol is the perfect base to explore all the area has to offer!

Farewell

We had a beautiful couples getaway at the Dominican's Republic Punta Cana. We loved the beach, the snorkelling and relaxing at the spa. The food at the hotel was delicious food, and we came back home tanned and relaxed!
