Sun, fun, beach, crystalline water, Resort, relax, chillax, honeymoon....all those words were coming into my mind when somebody mentioned Maldives, now I can confirm and say it's a PARADISE ON EARTH!

A little bit about Kandima & the Maldives

With 1192 islands The Maldives is a muslim but very open minded country. Tourism is its main business and keeps the economy of the country going, followed by fishing. Their inhabitants are very friendly people, always willing to help tourists and pretty much all of them speak English, although the official language is Dhivehi a mix between Indian and Arab. Located in one of the biggest island in Maldives, 3 km long, it's one the best Resorts for holidays, it will leave you breathless!

Easy to reach by seaplane or boat, the hotel staff will guide you to make your journey pleasant and comfortable, from the first staff we met at the airport till the one who gave us a welcome drink and the room key - everything was perfect!!

The hotel itself has 2 buffet restaurants, 3 a la carte dining and several bars and pool bars located on its 2 outdoor pools. There is also a state-of-the-art gym, a tennis court, a football pitch and a recreational room with table tennis, table football and different table games. Also there is a kids area, so if it happens to you to bring your kid he/she will be entertained too!

GETTING THERE

Emirates (EK) currently offers 3 flights per day to Male (MLE) , the capital and main airport.

Once in Male, Kandima staff will pick you up and escort you to the other terminal in order to take a domestic flight to Kudahuvadhoo (DDD), unless you booked the seaplane. In my case we took the internal 40 min flight with 1 stop to pick up/drop off more people. Then a 20 min boat was waiting for us to finally arrive into the Resort where our dream came true. Arriving into the lobby was one of the best experience I had, the color of the water left me speechless........

Everything is perfectly arranged by the Hotel, the service was immaculate, we did not have to worry about anything. Even our suitcases arrived into the room before us, still don't know how!

THE ROOMS​

We stayed in an aqua villa, best experience ever having the sea literally under your feet !

It´s so relaxing and at the same time fills you up with energy in the morning.

The room is equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine and a kettle, free wifi, tv, and even life vests in case you decide to jump into the water from your terrace.

In the bathroom you can find a shower and a bath tap, I am not a bath person but this one was a must-try, feeling the sound of the waves and watching the sea! Goosebumps!

You can also choose the aqua villa with jacuzzi......No excuses to come back stressed!

FOOD & DRINKS!

We were based on a full board rate, I have to say it was amazing, the 2 main buffet restaurants Flavour and Zest made us to put on some weight, offering a great choice of meat (they also serve pork) but above all fish; tuna, squid and octopus are the local fishes in the Maldives so definitely try them !

They offer some thematic lunch or dinner as well, we tried the Sri Lankan lunch, yummy with its curry!

Breakfast was good, specially after a yoga session in the morning, a huge range of juices and detox smoothies, eggs in all the formats (scrambled, pouched, fried…….) or for the sweet teeth a variety of pastries,crepes and waffles were available.

They also have a kids corner for the little ones!

Activities

Impossible to get bored, Kandima offers complimentary activities such as: snorkeling, yoga in the morning by the sea, you may spot the dolphins jumping the waves in the sea as I did!, aquafit sessions, core sessions or jogging on the beach by sunset. Plenty of free activities!

As well as there are others with extra cost like parasailing, totally recommended for the best shots of the island, jet ski or sailing.

Also you can pamper yourself with a spa session, why not?

So many things to do and so much fun!

Talking about fun.....my plan was to propose my girlfriend there but honestly I had no time! So we will have to come back!

Our Sending Off at Male

It was time for us to check out, I still remember some tears on my eyes... I didn't want to leave! Here is us back in Male before we fly home. Since we had a big gap after arriving into Male airport and our flight to Dubai, the hotel offered us a complementary tour around the city and access to the lounge at the airport, that was the cherry on top, a happy ending of a perfect vacation! Hats off, chapeau Kandima!
