What do these rates mean?

* STV Super Specials are STV's usual SUPER Discounted Special rates, GENUINELY and STRICTLY ONLY available for TRAVEL INDUSTRY Employees resident globally, and are classified as an Employee Benefit. (Available to Airline, Travel Agent, Tour Operator, ATC & Airport Handling Agent Employees)

* You must be a Travel Industry Employee and you must be registered with STV (Free) to be able to book our STV Super Special rates.

* Minimum one Travel Industry Employee per room. You are required to present your I.D. / proof of employment on check-in.

* There is no limit to the number of bookings per year you can book (unless stated otherwise)

* Friends and Family cannot book STV Super Special Rates. They can accompany you but must stay in the same room as you (some hotels permit an extra room for Friends & Family and if so this will be stated on the hotel page, but you must always be included in the booking and be staying at the hotel).

* PAYMENT & CANCELLATION: With STV Super Special rates you only need to pay a very small refundable deposit within 14 days of making your booking, or right away if travelling short notice, and the main balance of the booking is paid direct to the hotel, usually on check-in. It is FREE to cancel or amend dates for your booking, often right up to and including the day of check-in, making these rates great for standby travelers (see each hotels payment & cancellation terms). When you make a booking request with STV Super Special rates and it is confirmed, you do not need to go ahead with the booking and can cancel immediately without paying a deposit if you wish.

* Remember STV Super Special Rates are only available for Airline & Travel Industry Employees as an employee benefit and are the lowest rates you will ever find.

* True Airline & Travel Industry Employee rates are known as ON REQUEST. This means you choose your hotel and Super Special rate and submit your booking request through our website and you will receive a response back from the hotel as soon as possible. Because the rate is so highly discounted, the hotel 1st needs to check if they have enough spare rooms to agree to let you pay these exclusive Travel Industry Employee rates. The hotels will often reply to you the same day but be prepared to wait up to 24-48 hours ~ It's worth it!

* BEWARE of other Interline/Agency companies telling you they offer Genuine Airline & Travel Industry Employee rates with 'immediate confirmation'! This is simply not true, and you are being misled. Explore the scenic Machame trekking route all the way up to Uhuru Peak.

Kilidove Tours and Safaris highly recommends the Machame route to be used, for three main reasons: It has the highest success rate as the final ascent is via Stella point which is much closer to Uhuru Peak, it is much less crowded than the alternative Marangu route where huts are often fully booked, and it is a much more scenic trekking route. If people are going to make a once in a lifetime commitment to climb the world’s highest free standing mountain , they might as well enjoy as much of the mountain as possible.

Educational Rates for Travel Industry Staff

Day One

Arrival - Driving distance: 45min
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) your driver will be waiting holding a placard with your name on it. Meet and greet and then you are transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Overnight stay at the lodge/hotel of your choice.

Day Two

Machame Gate (1800 m) - Machame Camp (3000 m) - Walking duration: 5-7 hrs, 11 km
In the morning at 08.00 am, after a healthy breakfast, you will meet with your guide for a briefing. Then you depart to Machame gate which is 1 hour away from Arusha town. Arrive to the Machame Gate, get introduced to your whole climbing crew then do the registration at the park’s gate. After registration the climb {Hiking/Trekking} starts, going through rain forests, with a picnic lunch en route, for approximately 4 to 5 hours where you arrive to the Machame Hut.

Later afternoon walk up to a little higher altitude, then you return to Machame Hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day Three

Machame Camp (3000 m) - Shira Camp (3800 m) - Walking Duration: 4-6 hrs, 5 km
After breakfast, start the climb through a short Savannah, forest and other vegetation for approximately 4 to 5 hours, with picnic lunch en route, before arriving at the Shira Hut in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at the Shira hut.

Day Four

Shira (3800 m) - Barranco (3950 m) - Walking duration: 6-8 hrs, 10 km
After breakfast a slow walk through semi glacier and sandy areas with a picnic lunch en route, taking 3 to 4 hrs before arriving at the Barranco Hut. Dinner and overnight stay at the Barranco Hut.

Day Five

Barranco Camp (3950m) - Barafu Hut (4600 m) - Walking duration: 4-5 hrs, 4 km
After breakfast depart from Barranco camp, with picnic lunch en route climb through glaciers for approximately 4 to 5 hours before arriving the Barafu Hut. Dinner and overnight stay at Barafu Hut.

Day Six

Barafu Hut (4600 m) - Uhuru Peak (5895 m) - Mweka (3100 m) - Walking duration: 11-14 hrs, 17 km
An early wakeup call around 01.00 am for preparation and light breakfast before starting final ascent to the summit i.e. either the Stella Point reached in approximately 5 to 6 hrs. A further ascent to the Uhuru Peak reached in another 45 minutes approximately. After signing and short rest at Barafu Hut, descend via the Gilman’s Point down to Mweka hut for an hour’s rest with light breakfast. Then descent down for dinner and overnight stay at Mweka hut.

Day Seven

Mweka Camp (3100 m) – Mweka Gate (1640 m) - Walking duration: 3-4 hrs, 10 km
Descend from Mweka hut to the park gate from where you are transferred back to your hotel for a well deserved shower and rest. Next day you are transported to Kilimanjaro airport for your outbound flight or you can continue with a safari.
