About the Lodge

Set in extensive grounds with glorious views of Mount Kenya, this opulent mansion features a series of reception room, including an elegant drawing room with baronial fireplace that will take you back to aristocratic times. Enjoy the views from our scenic verandas, which extend all the way around the house.

Our accommodations include a private guest cottage, two master suites and two guest bedrooms. These exclusive rooms and suites offer king-sized beds, opulent furnishings, private verandas, private bathrooms and private dressing rooms. All rooms have a dedicated room steward, 24-hour room service, full laundry and valet service and provision of luxury toiletries, robes and slippers.

Our guests also have exclusive use of the grounds and two private swimming pools. Just a short drive from the luxury Sweetwaters Tented Camp, guests at Ol Pejeta House (and Buffalo Cottage) are invited to make use of all the facilities offered there.

Dining at Ol Pejeta House

Guests at the house and cottage dine in the Ol Pejeta private dining room, and enjoy the services of a dedicated chef who can tailor our menus exactly to suit our guests' wishes. Breakfast and lunch are served on the broad exterior terrace overlooking the grounds, while dinner is served in the dedicated dining room.

Take your dining experience to the next level with our special meals served in Africa’s wild bush. You can enjoy breakfast at the hippo hide, located on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Here a gentle woodland trail leads to a clearing by the river, which is home to numerous hippos. Greeted with a glass of chilled ‘bubbly', guests can then enjoy a full English breakfast. Guests are then offered the option of taking a leisurely guided walk along the river for more wildlife sightseeing.

You can also enjoy a bush dinner at Elephant Swamp, where troops of elephants congregate to wallow and bathe. The bush dinner is laid out in a sheltered glade, which is lit by lanterns, warmed by a campfire and guarded by Maasai warriors. Arriving after a wildlife-packed evening game drive, guests will be greeted with sundowners before being seated for a traditional safari supper of flame-cooked meat and fish accompanied by a sumptuous array of starters, salads, vegetables and puddings, as well as spirits and wine.

Adventures at the Lodge

Offering one of the highest wildlife densities in Kenya and a higher wildlife to acre ratio than any Kenyan national park, the conservancy offers sanctuary to a number of endangered species that you may be able to spot on our game drives.

The 110,000-acre private wilderness of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of wildlife for our guests to enjoy including all the members of the ‘Big Five': lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhino. This is home to many of the world’s endangered black and white rhino.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy hosts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and the only sanctuary for chimpanzees in Kenya. We can arrange visits to these sanctuaries, where you can see these endangered animals in their natural habitat.

The adventures are endless at Ol Pejeta House, but some of our guests’ favorites include visits to the Ol Pejeta Educatoinal Center or the Ereri Cultural Village, home to a group of Maasai, Pokot, and Samburu people. Children in particular will love our early morning lion tracking drive, where we locate a number of radio-collared lions, as well as our camel rides around the camp and in the surrounding conservancy!
