Riad Africa is located in a very safe and peaceful residential neighbourhood in the Riad Zitoun Lakdim area of the ancient medina of Marrakech. Offering easy access (just a 2 minute walk from the taxi stand and bank), and it takes just 5 minutes to walk the 400 metres to the bustling Djemaa el Fna along the easy to navigate Riad Zitoun Lakdim street.
A key feature of Riad Africa is its central courtyard pool – perfect for a quick dip after a day sightseeing. At 16 square metres in size and with a depth ranging from 0.8m to 1m it is one of the largest pools of over 1,000 riads located in Marrakech medina.
Located on the ground floor, directly opposite the pool, the lounge doubles as a breakfast/dining room. Comfortably seating up to 20 guests, this room is stylishly designed in beige, cream and opulent red and has a corner fireplace with log fires lit daily between November and February.
Facilities include twin reversible air-conditioning/heating units, a wide-screen TV with a Made-in-Morocco film collection, DVD/CD/radio stereo, Wi-Fi access, a selection of games and a small library. Walls are adorned with fascinating sub-Saharan African carved masks, each with a story to tell.
With a fountain and small bar this area is a popular spot for breakfast, afternoon coffee or early evening aperitif. This part of the riad is also an ideal place to enjoy a refreshing pot of mint tea or a pre-dinner drink or two.
Covering almost 250 square metres Riad Africa’s roof terrace is a real haven of peace and tranquility, offering wonderful views out over the medina to Djemaa el Fna and Koutoubia. A Caidal Tent provides respite from the sun and a place to lounge and relax.
Sun loungers and parasols are available for guests wishing to lay back in the shade. In winter months the peaks of the High Atlas Mountains can be seen to the south of the city.
Riad Africa offers 10 rooms and suites. Decorated in the earthy, exotic and vibrant shades of Africa, all guest bedrooms are equipped to a high specification with all the modern facilities expected of a first category small character hotel.
Choose from 3 standard rooms, 5 superior rooms and 2 suites. Most rooms offer air-conditioning / heating, a small fridge / mini-bar, hair-dryers, fluffy towels, bath robes, a digital safe, tea and coffee making facilities plus complimentary water on arrival.
Each room also includes an iPod dock/alarm clock and loan of a local mobile phone (to keep in touch with riad staff if help is required). Flat screen TV’s and DVD players are available on request for guests who would like to unwind watching one of the movies from Riad Africa’s Moroccan and African DVD collection.
Bathrooms are very generous in size and beautifully constructed of tadelakt-finished walls (polished local plaster), and hand-made local brass wash basins and showers.

The hotel works with a local tour partner, operating a choice of private guided day trips to the High Atlas, Essaouira, Cascades d’Ouzoud, Casablanca, Safi, Agadir or to Kasbah country. They also act as a booking agent for many adrenaline and activity-based day trips such as ballooning, rafting, biking, quad bike or camel treks.
