There are many places that can be discovered from San Pedro de Atacama: Moon Valley, Atacama Salt Flat and Tatio Geyser are some of the most popular. 

However, the area has a great beauty both in the desert landscape, and in their culture and history, which invites all seekers to discover 21st century in its narrow streets bustling with life.

San Pedro de Atacama is a village that still retains its essence and its own people maintain most of its traditions, culture and architecture (which extends to modern hotels built in the style of the prevailing architecture of the village). Mainly visited by backpackers and travelers delighted with the beauty of the driest desert in the world and its rich archaeological history, San Pedro de Atacama maintains a well-stocked Museum of Padre Le Paige containing a sizable collection of indigenous objects that belonged to the first inhabitants of the Desert, the Atacameños and later the Incas.

DAY 1

*Arrive in Calama’s Airport and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. 
*In the afternoon, you will visit the Moon Valley. Atacama Desert is the driest desert in the world and the excursion to the Moon Valley calls to mind the lunar landscape. 
*In "Valle de La Luna," you will find many stone and sand formations, all of them made through many years of water and wind erosion. 
*Moon Valley is part of Los Flamencos National Reserve and was declared as Nature Sanctuary in 1982.
*Before heading back to the hotel, witness the sun set over the horizon from the middle of the Moon Valley, and be amazed at the beauty of the different sculptures the late afternoon light brings. 
*Return to San Pedro de Atacama to overnight at hotel.

DAY 2

*Breakfast at hotel. The whole day is reserved for excursion to the Atacama Salt Flat.
*Enroute, enjoy views of the Licancabur Volcano. 
*The Atacama Salt Flat measures 3,000 sq.km., and it is the second largest salt flat in the world after Bolivia's Salar de Uyuni (Uyuni Salt Flat).
*Explore the Altiplanic Lagoons Miscanti and Miñiques, both located at Los Flamencos National Reserve. 
*Break for lunch.
*Visit Toconao, a town located some 35 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama. The most important place in Toconao is the church built in 1750 and the bell tower that is separated from the church building. 
*Afterwards, return to San Pedro de Atacama for overnight accommodation.

DAY 3

*Breakfast at hotel. Afterwards, go on an archaeological tour. 
*The excursion visits Tulor Village and Quitor Fortress. Tulor Village is an archaeological site located near San Pedro de Atacama, some 6 kilometers away. 
*The earliest archaeological remains were found by Father Le Paige in 1958, who has a museum named in his honor. Later, you will get to visit this museum and peek into the lives of the region's earliest inhabitants.
*One of the principal features of the site is the circular walls made of mud, declared an endangered site by World Monument Fund in 1998.
*Return to San Pedro de Atacama and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
*Overnight at hotel.

DAY 4

*The excursion to Tatio Geyser starts very early in the morning (around 4AM) in time to see it at its most active. Breakfast will be served during the excursion to Tatio Geyser.  
*Located some 90 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama, El Tatio is the largest geothermal field in South America and one of the largest in the world after Yellowstone in the United States and Giezerov in Russia. 
*In the area of Tatio Geyser, you can find a natural pool that is fed by the waters of the geothermal field itself. 
*Due to the pool's heat, it is recommended not to stay more than 10 minutes in the pool. (Also because of altitude, pregnant women, children and those with heart disease are not advised to join to excursion.)
*Head to the Puritama Hot Springs after the tour to El Tatio. The hot springs, which are located closer to San Pedro de Atacama, contain 8 pools with water temperatures of around 33.5° C.
*Return to San Pedro de Atacama and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
*Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 5

*Breakfast at hotel. Be transferred to Calama Airport for your flight back.
