About the hotel

Tamanu Beach resort is located on the western coast of Aitutaki, with stunning sunset views from the beachfront Restaurant and Bar. Tamanu Beach resort offers four bungalow accommodation options, including self-contained studio rooms and one-bedroom lagoon view rooms. 

The private, white sand beach borders Aitutaki Island's crystal clear lagoon providing endless opportunities for island activities such as swimming, snorkelling, SUPS and kayaking in the azure waters.

Lagoon Cruise
An absolute must for everyone visiting Aitutaki, take the Lagoon Cruise to experience the wonders of Aitutaki. Lagoon Cruises include lunch and time snorkelling. A fun-filled, unforgettable day on the lagoon.

Fishing Tours
Aitutaki is fabulous for fishing! The resort can recommend several deep-sea fishing operators. Common catches include Marlin, tuna and mahi mahi. The Aitutaki Game Fishing Club is a must-visit for a cold drink after a successful day on the boat.


Situated 1 km from Tamanu Beach is 'Maunga Pu'. At a height of 124m, it is a gentle climb rewarded with no less than amazing views of Aitutaki atoll and its unique lagoon.

Scuba Dive
For the keen divers, Aitutaki Scuba provides professional guided dive and snorkel tours, gear service and instruction.

The Aitutaki Golf Club has an interesting course situated on the coast beside the airport. Clubs can be hired for casual games.


Market Day
While the market is open every day, Saturday is the big market day on Aitutaki. Make sure you visit the market to experience local culture and music, pick up beautifully fresh local produce, peruse the local crafts and meet the people of Aitutaki.

One Foot Island
One Foot Island is a small islet and is often said to be the most important attraction here. It offers the finest views of the Aitutaki lagoon and you can have your passport stamped while visiting its beautiful shores. One Foot Island was awarded the "Australasia's Leading Beach" award at the World Travel Awards in 2008!

Take off on your own island adventure! You can rent a moped scooter from the hotel, or take a complimentary bicycle and explore our tropical paradise. We can even arrange car rental for you during your stay.


Cultural Fire & Dance Show

A favourite with the locals - Every Thursday enjoy Island Fire - a performance of Cook Islands song, dance, fire dancing and more from the resort's talented and dynamic cultural group. 

The fun starts at 6:30pm. Enjoy a cocktail, wine or beer as you listen to LIVE music from Taumuri Williams. From 7pm, dine on island-inspired cuisine (buffet dinner) followed by a delicious tropical dessert.

Dressed in traditional costume, watch as these fascinating traditional dancers take you on a mesmerizing journey through the South Pacific.

Tamanu's performers will captivate you with authentic dance, beautiful costumes, hand clapping and singing. Watch while the warrior men dance with fire to the upbeat rhythm of Pacifica drums, as the Cook Island women move gracefully singing in sweet harmony. You can even give it a go yourself!

Tamanu Beachfront Restaurant offers guests from all over the island a wonderful Pacific Island dining experience - delicious cuisine, a beachfront view with amazing sunsets, a taste of our culture and friendly Cook Islands hospitality!

Tamanu Restaurant is nestled on the beachfront on Aitutaki's blue lagoon. The restaurant is built in the traditional ‘Are’ style, with local Tamanu timber (mahogany) offering an authentic Pacific Island dining experience.

Enjoy the romantic Aitutaki sunsets with a warm frangipani breeze and the sound of gentle waves lapping the shore as you dine.

This a-la-carte restaurant seats up to 80 and offers a variety of dishes inspired by Pacific Island cuisine with a range of western favourites.

The resort's quality menu is prepared by experienced resort chefs and they are open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.


Sunday Sunset BBQ on Aitutaki Beach
Enjoy the resort's Sunday sunset barbeque dinner. Watch the sun go down every Sunday, starting at 6pm with ‘Sunset Cocktail Hour’.

Cocktails will be followed by an entrée at 7pm. You will be presented with a buffet of seasonal garden vegetables and salads, along with a selection of fresh fish and meats, all served right from the BBQ! To top it off, enjoy a light island dessert.

You are accompanied throughout the evening by relaxing LIVE music from Taumuri Williams while enjoying yet another gorgeous Cook Islands sunset.
