The Julian Alps northwest of the capital are every bit as spectacular as the Alpine ranges in other neighbouring countries.

The turquoise-blue waters of the Soča River rushing out of the mountains make for a unique landscape that someone must witness its beauty first had in order to believe it. For the more adventurous types, you can choose to try rafting through the river, instead than just look at it! The extensive cave systems, unspoiled countryside, and funky charm of Ljubljana await those with the imagination to choose a destination that is more off the beaten path.

Most activities take place in nature, guaranteeing visitors that they will get in contact with mother earth, as well as having beneficial impact on your wellbeing. Some activities are of course seasonal, but there are many things to do all year round, from skiing in the winter, to numerous water sports during the warmer months of the year.
