Family-owned and in the tourism industry for the past 39 years, Jetwing Hotels is Sri Lanka’s premier resort brand and a leading force in the Sri Lankan tourist industry with 22 distinctive properties spread around the country.
The saga of Jetwing is one of classic entrepreneurship. In 1970, Sri Lanka implemented a tourism master plan which marked its entry into the international tourism arena. Herbert Cooray, Jetwing’s late chairman and a contractor by trade, received an opportunity to be associated with the tourism sector when he was called upon to construct a hotel in Negombo. He rose to the challenge and built a small property of six rooms catering to the ‘charter traveller.’
From there, the Jetwing umbrella of companies has catered to a wide variety of clientele, from the cost-conscious globetrotter to the jetsetting sun-seeker in search of customised, personalised service. This in-depth understanding of customer needs can be seen in the company's diverse properties spread out over the country: From seaside retreats in Bentota and Negombo, to somnolent escapes in the lush mountains and rural hideaways of Sigiriya and Yala, to the lavish colonial splendour in the tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya.
Jetwing's luxury boutique hotels - Jetwing Lighthouse, Jetwing Beach, Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions and Jetwing Vil Uyana - all considered overambitious projects at the inception, are now flourishing properties which have received accolades and commendations both from within the industry and out.
Now, Herbert Cooray's two children, ably supported by a family of associates who believe in passion, humility, integrity and tenacity, continue the tradition to give each visitor to our shores an opportunity to experience true, traditional Sri Lankan hospitality.
Building on their foundation of being passionate in what they do, as well as their desire to offer guests the experience of true, traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, Jetwing Hotels constantly pioneers discoveries and this leadership in the tourism industry in Sri Lanka captures the essence of the brand.
More than just accommodation, Jetwing Hotels offer an experience of a lifetime in the comfort of its indulgent surruondings where guests not only get a massage but achieve wellness through Ayurvedic healing; not only sample Sri Lankan food but immerse in a culinary culture that makes the best use of its abundant spices; not only encounter wildlife – turtles, whales, elephants, tigers, and the elusive loris – but experience what untrammelled nature is like.
Nestled among two and a half acres of palm tree gardens, along a beautiful sun-kissed beach in Ethukala, near the coastal town of Negombo, is Jetwing Beach, a cool, calm, temple of chic.
Situated in a lush tropical garden set out in the vicinity of a golden stretch of the Negombo shoreline, the Jetwing Blue Beach Hotel offers exquisite cuisine and rooms with a spectacular sea view.
Negombo and its famous lagoon on the west coast of Sri Lanka is located just a few minutes away from the airport. This quaint town is home to an active fishing community who make a fine and picturesque sight as the fleet.
If a luxurious holiday in serene surroundings where elegance meets comfort is what you are looking for, Jetwing Lagoon, Negombo is just perfect for you.
Jetwing St. Andrew’s
Amidst mountains swathed in mist and dotted with tea plantations, stands the quaint old mansion of Jetwing St. Andrews. A former country house converted into a Jetwing Hotel, life at Jetwing St. Andrews is reminiscent of the days of the British Rulers.
Jetwing Yala is a combination of amazing luxury with awe-inspiring wildlife. Set close to one of the best wildlife destinations in Asia, Jetwing Yala is one of the newest ventures from Sri Lanka's premier hospitality brand.
