Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel is located on Rarotonga's stunning southern coast directly overlooking the idyllic Titikaveka Beach. The 10 kilometre stretch of soft sand is so white, that you can walk on it without shoes or sandals - even in the heat of the day.  

A white sand beach as far as the eye can see and a lagoon of iridescent blue teeming with colourful tropical fish gives you a sheltered marine playground for snorkeling and swimming!

The experience

Located in the village of Titikaveka on Rarotonga’s stunning southern coast, right on a magnificent stretch of white sand beach and sparkling blue lagoon, this intimate Boutique Hotel is spread over 3 levels offering 12 Beachfront Studios and 5 spacious Deluxe Beachfront Studios all with uninterrupted views out to the vast Pacific Ocean.

Renowned for its secluded and tranquil location Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel offers guests a quiet, peaceful ambience and with a beautiful white sand beach and pristine lagoon right at your doorstep, there is plenty of opportunity to easily explore the colourful, abundant marine life.

Activities

The stunning stretch of white sand beach ensures that you can find your own peaceful spot to relax with plenty of elbow room around you. You may choose to simply enjoy the scenery or take a refreshing dip in the lagoon, and for those feeling slightly more energetic there's always snorkelling and kayaking.

In fact, with the numerous coral gardens scattered around the lagoon it offers an amazing marine playground which should impress even the most experienced snorkeller.

Snorkelling
The lagoon profile at both the hotel and villas is a mix of smooth sandy floor scattered coral heads and dazzling aquamarine water. Moana Sands provides guests with complimentary snorkelling equipment along with some friendly tips on the best spots to experience the myriad of colourful tropical fish!

Most of the snorkelling can be done within easy access from the beach which is great for the less confident swimmers and children. Some of the spectacular sea-life you might expect to see in the lagoon include butterflyfish, parrotfish, angelfish, trevally and starfish.

Kayaking
The South Coast lagoon offers calm, clear waters and an ideal place to venture out in a kayak to enjoy the scenary. Moana Sands provides complimentary kayaks for guest use.

Swimming
Rarotonga is a reef protected island, meaning that rougher waves of the ocean shatter the offshore reef resulting in calmer water near the shoreline in the lagoon. The lagoon at both the hotel and villas provides safe swimming at all tides. Reef shoes are not essential but we do recommend if you have them, to wear them while swimming in the lagoon for added protection.

Bike hire
An easy, flat, round-island road makes bike riding an easy and enjoyable activity for all ages. Pedal power is a great way to really see and experience the beautiful island of Rarotonga at your leisure. Pack your togs, some water and head off for a fun filled day. Moana Sands has a range of bicycles and helmets for hire.

BBQ area
We have a lovely BBQ and Deck area available for guest use at both the hotel and villas. The setting next to the beach offers stunning views and an ideal opportunity for you to mix and mingle with fellow guests while enjoying a tasty BBQ meal. There are 2 big supermarkets on Rarotonga, CITC Supermarket and Foodland in Avarua and Wigmores Superstore is located directly across from the Villas.

While holidaying in the Cook Islands, why not treat yourself to either a relaxing massage or invigorating beauty treatment at Moana Sands Hibiscus Salon. Located at the Taikura shops adjacent to the Moana Sands Beachfront Villas the salon provides a great range of relaxing beauty therapy and hair treatments including a range of soothing facials, massages, manicures and pedicures.

Here you can unwind and enjoy a one hour relaxing Swedish or deep tissue massage using local cold pressed coconut oil and a homemade sugar scrub.
